SPOOKY PUMPKIN PATCH quilt pattern

Hi!

I just released my 3rd quilt pattern tonight! Yay! I though I could wait until tomorrow morning but I was too excited and couldn’t wait anymore!

My 3rd pattern is called SPOOKY PUMPKIN PATCH.

It’s very simple and a great pattern for beginner level quilters! Originally I wanted to the pumpkins and the sashing between. And maybe I could do something more with the sashing. But my idea didn’t work well so I had to think again. So I came up with this idea which is adding Xs (I’ve been saying Xs but can I say that?!) to the corners to make this simple design looks more fun!

The quilt size is 48 1/2″x 60 1/2″. It’s a wall hanging but you can use as a small throw. I prepared only one size in my pattern but there is the color variations you can choose. That quilt I made was mix and match colors version. The other one is called the simple color version which is all the pumpkins and background color or fabric is the same.

I wasn’t thinking of making the color variations in the beginning. But I was playing with my PC one night and tried the different colors, then I just loved them!!! I don’t think I have time to make another one before Halloween but definitely make one next year!

This time I did simple straight quilting to it. I think grid quilting looked nice but when I was working on machine quilting, I felt like the quilt top sifted more than I expected. I didn’t want to do more quilting. I was a little afraid that it could shift funny way and would look bad. Machine quilting is the hardest part for me. It doesn’t matter whether free motion or straight line quilting… It’s always hard… I have to keep trying!

The above fabric photo is the first inspiration for Halloween like quilt. I like going to the quilt shop and just looking around. (Of course! End up I’m not just looking!) I get inspiration from all the fabrics! I loved the color combination and couldn’t go home without them!
